A site is a normally a physical address (for example, a warehouse), however, you could also create
a site for a job (if you are hiring equipment). A location is a smaller space within the site. It may
be a pallet space on racking or a room within a building.
Ideally you would set up a Site for each depot (where the trucks are usually stationed). Each truck could then be
set up as a location of this site. Your drivers should be added as users. This will allow you to see what
equipment should be on each truck and who is responsible for it.
Navigator Asset allows you to group assets underneath an assset "header". While each tool is entered as an asset in its own right, the kit
itself is also added as a "header". Whenever you issue or return the header, all of the assets it contains are also transferred.
Navigator assumes that all items you track using the asset module are to be accounted
for individually - therefore every asset is uniquely identified by its asset code. If you need to report on similar items (ie. all of your hammers), the
correct process is to enter the asssets individually and assign them to an asset classification.
Navigator will match each scan against its internal database. If you scan an
invalid location, for example, Navigator will tell you that the barcode isn't
valid and ask if you would like to record the scan anyway. If you choose to
record the invalid data, Navigator will give you an error when you go to upload
the data which must be fixed before the data can be successfully processed.
The right-most column on the scanner upload screen shows you the error detected
with the item - you will need to minimise this screen and add any new assets, locations or users.
Warning: Do not close the screen while you add new locations/assets or users.! Instead, minimise the import screen and press Process again once you
have added the missing items to the database.
